Chris Temple is a 22-year old student studying international relations and economics at Claremont McKenna College. Crediting his parents with instilling in him a “curiosity about traveling and adventure,” he took a gap year before starting at Claremont to explore Bolivia, Peru, Argentina, and Guatemala. The experience inspired an interest in international development and gave him his first taste of the transformative power of microfinance.
After spending a year working for Grameen Trust and Grameen America in a number of countries, Chris founded an online organization called MFI Connect, to give his fellow students opportunities to get involved in microfinance.
He funds his traveling and documentary adventures by teaching private tennis lessons in his hometown in Connecticut. In the summer of 2011, he decided he could learn valuable skills from a business environment, and interned for the advocacy consulting firm, Global Health Strategies.
He has 2 older brothers, loves being in and around water but has an irrational fear of sharks.
